I know I skipped my workout yesterday (the yoga remember?) but today I am killing it! I did the yoga workout while the kids napped and I did total body cardio once the kids were in bed. The first workout of this program was the total body cardio, so it was awesome doing it again a week later and seeing what I had improved on. There are a few things I noticed. Well, for one, I am ALOT stronger. It’s crazy what only one week of these workouts has done to my body. For example the “surrenders”, I could hardly do any on day one because my left knee hurt me so badly and that wasn’t even with any weights. Day 8, I did surrenders for the full minute (both times) with two 3 pound weights at my shoulders! Progress! There were a bunch of other moves I saw huge progress in as well. For the jogging in place moves, I was able to do the full minute with a 5 pound weight. Last week I couldn’t finish and had 3 pound or no weights. Cardio still isn’t my strongest workout but I am getting there! I can’t wait to see how the other workouts compare to last weeks!
Let’s check out what I ate!
I had to take today’s breakfast on the go, so Shakeology was my best option. I did chocolate and peanut butter and drank it in the car while heading to the grocery store. 1 red / 1 teaspoon
By the time I got home, I was super hungry so I threw together some leftovers and created this. Quinoa with green beans and salmon. 1 green / 1 yellow / 1 red
I want to share my grocery haul with you so you can see what I got and how much it all cost. I went to Aldi first because I needed some things I knew they had great prices on and then I went to Wegmans to get the rest of the things on my list.
My Aldi Haul:
3 Fit & Active Yogurts for $1.89 each
Natural Creamy Peanut Butter $1.49
8 Chunk Tuna in Water 65cents each
3 Fit & Active Reduced Sodium Chicken Broth $1.39 each
Corn Tortillas $1.39
Almond Butter $4.99
Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts $7.91
Fit & Active Cracked Pepper Turkey Breast Tenderloins $5.99
I also picked up some more of the Fit & Active Original Flatbread that we have been loving so much. It’s $2.29 for 6 of them. I got two packages.
Now for the produce. I am a bit of a produce snob because I worked at my Dad’s produce store for 6 years and he sells the most amazing produce ever! I’m not sure if it’s just the Aldi I go to or Aldi in general but I never have good luck in the produce department. Nothing ever looks fresh. But today I was able to find more than usual.
2 Strawberries $2.99 each
2 Blueberries $2.99 each
3 Cucumbers 29cents each (great price!)
5lb Bag of Red Potatoes $2.99
2 Limes 25cents each
Bananas 44cents per pound = 94 cents
I grabbed a few things at Wegmans.
Ground Chicken $4.49
Coconut Milk $2.79 (I bought the wrong kind)
Ginger Root 39cents
I was hungry yet again so I ate a banana with peanut butter and cinnamon. 2 purple / 2 teaspoons
Remember how I told you I had some recipes coming up that I was really excited about? Well, I gave one a try tonight and it was a failure. I was going to make Thai Curry Chicken Meatballs that I found on a blog and the girl raved about them. The sauce was super watery and way to spicy. So I ended up throwing the sauce away and we just ate plain chicken meatballs for dinner. My husband was NOT thrilled (neither was I). I served mine alongside a romaine salad with goat cheese, avocado, and creamy herb dressing. 2 red / 1 green / 1 orange / 1 blue
After that dinner fail, I wanted to go in the kitchen and whip up a batch of my Ultimate Fudge Brownies with Peanut Butter Chips but somehow I just did the dishes, got the kids in bed, worked out, and went right to bed before I ate something I regretted…..this blog is keeping me going.
